Hopefully it won’t take long to see some results.  I’ve got my fingers crossed that Jim Martin is the next Senator to represent the State of Georgia.  I for one will throw a party if Saxby Chambliss is the next Republican casualty.

This outcome of this seat will tell if the Democrats will get their much needed and wanted 60 seat majority.  Now if someone would just give me some damn numbers, I’d be a happy camper right now.

Updates…well maybe I should have kept my mouth shut.  We are getting smoked in Georgia right now.  Only 9% is in, but if this keeps up I’m going to bed one sad puppy.  The link below will take you to resuts.

Obama on his Way to Georgia…Nope, but they’ve got Ludacris?

Another little tid bit that makes you double check the validity of the source.  Apparently Ludacris is on his way to campaign for Jim Martin.  I’ll admit this perplexes me a bit…what’s up with Georgia??

Although, I guess I’d rather have Ludacris than Sarah Palin…but hey that’s just me.

Chambliss, Cocky or Secure?

Saxby Chambliss.  Every time I hear that name the first thing that comes to mind is the little vomit taste in my mouth.  I’ll admit, I’m no lover of the freshman Senator from Georgia.  In fact, I really just feel pure rage and utter contempt.  Max Cleland is the second thought that flashes through my mind, or maybe it’s the first and it causes the vomit taste.

I’m hoping the good old boy from the South takes a tumble.  I guess like everyone else, I’ll have to wait for the results from the run off on December 2nd to see if the Democratic Challenger, Jim Martin, has done enough to swing the state of Georgia into the land of purple.

Chambliss and Martin Running Neck and Neck

Many polls have Chambliss and Martin in a pretty tight race.  Some have Chambliss leading, but within the margin of error.

Turning Out the Vote in Georgia

Republicans aren’t the only ones bringing heavy hitters to the Georgia for the Senate seat runoff.  President Clinton made an appearance last Wednesday and Al Gore was out this weekend supporting Democratic challenger Jim Martin.  Apparently the President Elect has made a radio ad, but no appearance is planned.

I still think he needs to get to Georgia!  It very well may end up being the key to holding the Senate with a 60 seat majority.

Franken…Number 59 or Magical Number 60?

Franken is narrowing the gap between Republican Freshman Senator Norm Coleman in the bitter cold state of Minnesota.  Coleman now leads by a mere 174 votes!  Whoo hooo Team Franken!

As a fellow former Minnesotan, Paul Wellstone fan, and Franken lover this is GREAT news.  I have good feeling about the recount!

My only question is…will Franken or Jim Martin be number 59 or 60 for the Democrats?

RNC has Deep Pockets for Chambliss

The RNC is bankrolling Saxby Chambliss.  Not really surprising considering his reelection may be needed to keep the Democrats from gaining a filibuster proof majority in the Senate.

Rudy Giuliani has apparently decided to make an appearance fund raising for Chambliss.  I wonder though if Rudy should be fund raising for himself to pay off his own campaign debt, but hey that’s just me.  McCain and Romney have put in appearances as well.

Jim Martin has received some help from Bill Clinton and Al Gore.  I’m still hoping the President Elect will make an appearance or two as well.

The Road to 60.

Okay.  Just when I thought we were done, I’ve realized we are not!  WHOO HOO!!

I earlier called Alaska for convicted felon (isn’t that fun?) Ted Stevens, but Begich is gaining steadily.  He is now leading by 2,374 votes.  Alaska…I’m getting prouder by the count.

In addition, we have a Senate run off in Georgia.  Jim Martin is seeking to upset the Republican Party’s nasty Saxby Chambliss.  Yeah, I hate that guy.  I know I’ve mentioned it before, but it really doesn’t get old for me.  I’ve also mentioned every Democrat possible should get their behinds to Georgia to give Jim Martin a hand…and that includes our President Elect Barack Obama.

And the final race to reach 60 brings me to one of my favorite states, Minnesota.  This is Paul Wellstone’s seat.  It will always be Senator Wellstone’s seat to me.  They are currently getting ready to start the recount between Al Franken (I’ll admit I’m a fan…love that guy’s books) and Norm the suit wearing worm Coleman.  Now from what I hear the recount may favor Franken.  Apparently the districts with issues are Franken friendly territory, so keep your fingers crossed!

So…we need Alaska, Georgia, and Minnesota to see our dream of 60 come true.  Keep your fingers crossed…or better yet, uncross those fingers and make some phone calls!!!

My Message to the President Elect…

Dear President Elect Obama,

GET YOUR ASS TO GEORGIA!!  I say this with all due respect.  You are needed.  Go!  Lead!!  Show this country you know how to fight.  I’m not asking you for a win, I’m asking you to lead.

I’ll admit I’m perplexed by this.  Why are you there?  Why isn’t every single Democrat camped out in the state of Georgia?!?  You the leader of my party, the Democratic Party, and you need to get there by plane, car, or by train – I don’t care just get there.

I don’t buy this is risky politically.  Democrats have not done particularly well in the state of Georgia for the last 10 years.  You did not win the state of Georgia.  We are not talking about a Democrat possibly losing Massachusetts, which could be a little embarrassing.  We are talking Georgia.

We are also talking about control of the United States Senate.  You are going to need the Senate’s help.  I wouldn’t worry about alienating Saxby Chambliss, he’s going to screw you every chance he gets whether you go campaign for Jim Martin or not…

So I implore you, do what’s right.  Go to Georgia!!  Give Jim Martin a helping hand.

Respectfully,

Alyssa…Democrat who Cares…
