I mean really. What the fuck is this all about?

I didn’t see these fools up in arms when a REPUBLICAN President and a REPUBLICAN Congress were spending like mad and dragging us into expensive wars, did you?!

So I came across this comment today and I wanted to respond. I had originally planned on just commenting, but I’ve decided to make it post of its own. The comment is in response to a prior post about the Big Three Auto CEOs (or wankers as they should be titled) and the Senate Republicans that killed the auto deal.
To give good story and history…Here is my prior post…
Perhaps a more appropriate title should be: “Two of the Big Three getting Minuscule Amount of Relief. I’m still pretty torn about bailing out the Big Three. I do think their CEOs should be fired. So should much of their top managers for that matter. They’ve done a crap job. They do not deserve the outrageous amount of pay they get nor their bonuses. However, I do not think putting 3 million more people into the unemployment line sounds like a good idea.
I also find the political posturing that is taking place right now to be a lot more than a little sickening! Seriously. Other than DeMint (SC-R), which one of the 5 Republicans making waves about the $14 billion auto bail out said one word about the $700 billion Wall Street bailout?! Did any of them cry out when AIG continued to party on the tax payers dollars…uhhhh…NO! No they did not. Bastards. And does anyone else find it curious the Alabama senators are so adamant about calling off the bailout??? Isn’t it Alabama that has a HUGE Toyota plant? Just asking!
I also wonder why no one questions blue collar job loss, but a junk bond salesman loses his job and man oh man it’s a big deal.
Just one of my many angry rants of today.
Now following is the comment. I would like to thank crowded hours for posting. I don’t agree with his/her post. I think they missed the fundamental point of my post. However, it does give me the opportunity to crawl back up on my soap box and try to make my point once again. For that I truly do thank him/her!
Hi Smart, Liberal and Female! Haven’t been to your site in a while so thought I’d see what was on your mind!
Always blaming the Republicans and the CEOs? I find it curious Dems and the media rarely bring up the unions…
No secret that the UAW is holding their employers financial hostage (and by default, the country).
And it’s no shock that unions are going to lambaste the Republicans and favor the Democrat party. The Democrats enable the unions to financially hold the auto industry hostage while the Republicans feel that enough is enough with these unions. The auto industry isn’t failing because of bad leadership. It’s failing because it can’t make a profit while paying all these union full-pensions and ridiculous benefits. I applaud the Republican minority for standing up for what’s right.
Why is it that the Republicans are being demonized as the ones torpedoing this bailout? How about exploring the root cause, which is the UAW that won’t budge an inch. If the auto industry fails, it won’t be the Republican Party’s fault. It will be the unions.
On the other side of the aisle, the Democrats are nothing but paid accomplices. They’re not standing for principle. They’re standing to make a buck or a million. This year the UAW gave $1.9 million to Democrats but only $11,500 to Republicans. Why? Because they knew that the Democrats don’t have a conscience and would support the highest bidder in this battle.
Shameful.
And finally here is my response….
I wouldn’t go as far as saying I always blame the Republicans and CEOs, but when the shoe fits….
Why do I blame CEOs? Well they are steering the ship so to speak. When I was in the Navy if a ship ran aground who was responsible? The Commanding Officer, that’s who! Why, because ultimately he is responsible for the direction of the ship…much like a CEO. If the CEO isn’t responsible for the company, its direction, and well being, why on earth are they making so damn much money? Are they only responsible when things go right???
It really is the HYPOCRACY of it that makes me so angry. Did we demand employees of Wall Street take pay cuts? NO. Did we ask them to make concessions regarding their retirements? NO! Did we suggest they should let go of some of their health benefits? NO.
AIG threw damn parties on our dollar and we gave them more money. I don’t remember Senate Republicans showing outrage over that. I don’t remember Bob Corker demanding they tell us when they’d take pay cuts, do you? I didn’t think so.
I’m not blaming all Senate Republicans. I’m blaming a few. In fact I singled out five, which even though your numbers are dwindling I think you will agree is not ALL Senate Republicans. I even went on to say DeMint has a valid point…remember he didn’t like the Wall Street bailout either. I’m on my high horse about hypocrites. I’m on my high horse about the fact that blue collar workers and the unions have to bend over and take it in the ass, yet again (they already made concessions in 2007), while investment bankers, junk bond salesmen, insurance salesmen, and gamblers get a totally free pass.
As for the union… I know it’s shameful that they are fighting for living wage jobs and decent health care. Damn them.
To me that is what is fundamentally wrong with this country. We value too many of the wrong things.

And I honestly can’t say I’m sorry. If you can’t quite place who Representative Jefferson is…remember the guy who took the money from the FBI? Then when the FBI raided his home they found the money in the freezer? Well that would be him.
Jefferson has pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of racketeering, bribery, money laundering and obstruction of justice. Which I’m sure is what his lawyers are urging. I don’t know why he even ran again. He should have stepped aside and let someone else run on the Democratic ticket. Perhaps I wouldn’t have to feel joy that Anh Cao the Republican challenger won that seat.
I truly believe if the Democrats want to remain in power we have got to lose some of the dead weight. Think of the Republicans and what their scandal-mongers did for them…ie…Ted Stevens, Duke Cunningham, Mark Foley, and Tom DeLay.
In the spirit of a new tomorrow I also believe it is time for Charlie Rangel to resign. I think like Ted Stevens, Mr. Rangel probably started out with good intentions. Like Mr. Stevens, I believe Mr. Rangel probably has done a lot for his district. However at this point, he’s mired in scandal. Rent controlled apartments, taxes, and now this deal with his son. I urge him to hand over the reigns to someone young, fresh, and ready to see real change.

Now, I want to start by saying I do not agree with most of what Mitt Romney has to say. I was very disappointed to see him change the pro-choice stance that enabled him to be elected as a Republican in the State of Massachusetts. However, I have never understood why the right cannibalized him. As the primary went on I even began to feel sorry for the guy.
I also wondered why Republicans weren’t seeing what I was seeing. Here’s a guy that has a pretty good record fiscally and knows how to run a successful business. According to the Republican Party, he should be their guy. Instead they keep picking fiscally “unstable” jerks. George W. Bush never ran a company successfully in fact he pretty much bankrupted much of what he was involved with. And look what he did to the country. Then the primary closes with old man McCain who admits he doesn’t understand the economy. Then he picks Crazy Palin who can’t even complete a sentence.
Why didn’t he pick Romney? He’s young. Attractive (yes for all his conservative crap the guy is attractive). He’s got a nice family. He’s successful. He’s been a moderate before…perhaps he can find his way back to the middle.
Oh yeah…he’s a Mormon. I truly believe if he’s been a Protestant or a Catholic he’d have been their guy, and we’d have had a completely different race. Personally, I could care less about the guy’s religion, but that’s just me.
I’ll be curious to see if the Right sees right and Mitt Romney is their guy in 2012.

And keep your Homeland Security Committee chairmanship. I gotta say, I’m pretty irritated by this. I say let the Republicans have him.

AIG. First they get $85 BILLION, then they get $38 BILLION, and now they are getting another $40 BILLION! Apparently the initial $85 BILLION has been reduced to $60 BILLION, but wait the $38 BILLION has been increased to $52.5 BILLION. leaving the governments total bailout to AIG at a whopping $152.5 BILLION! I’m not even sure what to say, except WTF!?
Do they keep changing the amount hoping the average tax payer won’t be able to follow the money trail? It took me three articles before I could get a handle on how much money AIG was getting. Here’s the total: $60 BILLION + $52.5 BILLION + $40 BILLION = $152.5 BILLION!!
I don’t know about all of you, but I’ve had enough. This is a company that has been completely mismanaged, and then came to the government for a HAND-OUT! I’ve heard a countless Republicans talk about personal responsibility and the government shouldn’t be doling out the welfare, but when it comes to coporate greed they seem to turn a blind eye.
Need I mention these bastards have thrown how many parties on the tax payers dollars?? Let them sink like the rest of us!

Finally. This is a phenomenon that I have wondered about for a long long time. Why and how did the Republican Party get such a boost from the military and our nation’s veterans? It’s not like more Republicans have served than Democrats, but the military members and veterans kept voting Republican. It’s almost like they kept expecting the Republican Party to have their back, all the while many of them were screwing them daily.
I was appalled in 2004 at the attacks on John Kerry and Max Cleland. Both men served valliantly in Vietnam. Hell, Max gave three limbs for his county yet the Republican Right questioned his patriotism time and time again. It galled me greatly to see Saxby I didn’t serve a day Chambliss question Cleland’s ability to stand up for his country. I kept shouting at the tv, ”Hey asshole, he doesn’t have any legs because he ALREADY stood up for his country.” Or when George “W”here the Hell was I Bush and the Swift Lying Ass Boaters raised questions about John Kerry and his service. Even more of an irritant was the ever bloating and pill popping Limbaugh making such allegations. That fat piece of shit avoided the war due to a boil on his ass. How’s that for irony?
Now, I’ll never make the claim that you have to serve in the military to prove you are a patriot. Hell, you can teach, join the Peace Corps, become a police/fire/EMT, or just about anything else to better your country to show your patriotism. Try exercising your right to vote, now that’s some patriotism! But, man oh man, do I start getting hot when someone hints I am not a patriot because I question the government or don’t believe the same things they do. I usually turn and say, “I picked up a gun and served my country asshole, until you do the same, SHUT THE HELL UP!”
I’m thrilled to see the military and other veterans voting for Democratic candidates. All I can say is, took ya long enough!

Is it just me, or is anyone else amused by how the Republican Party is eating its own? For years I’ve been appalled by the methods they have deployed with their win at all costs campaigns. However, the tide seems to have turned and they are no longer eating only Democrats for lunch.
They are devouring Sarah Palin. Fingers pointed here, fingers pointed there. She’s the reason they lost accusations are dominating the news cycle. Uh, no. No she’s not, but she certainly didn’t help.
She’s called her attackers cowards and jerks. Well hello…that’s your BASE! Enjoy.
