That’s my evil laugh, in case you are wondering! I just read something that delighted me! Norm the Worm Coleman is leading by a mere 5 votes in Minnesota.
What does that mean? I’m glad you asked…it means…Al Franken may just be sworn in as the newest Senator from Minnesota!
I’m keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed!!

Today Minnesota’s Canvassing Board denied Al Franken’s request to include 12,000 absentee ballots in the current recount. These ballots apparently are being discounted due to technicalities. Minnesota law requires they not be counted. The Franken Campaign is still hopeful that up to 6,400 ballot may have been mistakenly thrown out. It is unknown whether the ballots will be looked at again to ensure valid ballots are counted.
This is not good news for Team Franken. However, with approximately 80% of the vote counted, 3594 ballots are being challenged by both sides. Team Coleman is challenging 1836 and Team Franken is challenging 1758.
Damn it. I can’t say I’m thrilled with Minnesota’s voting laws right now. I also can’t say I’m thrilled with the idea of keeping Norm the Worm Coleman in the Senate for another 6 years.

Not really, but just as amusing. Things look to get infinitely more interesting in Minnesota as the recount continues. The Franken camp is claiming Coleman now leads by a mere 84 votes.
In addition, Team Franken is alleging there are missing ballots.

Well, this had to have been one of the ugliest Senate races in the 2008 election cycle. I had hoped Franken would put Coleman away, but sadly they are in recount with Coleman leading by about 120 votes with 60% recounted. I’m a Franken fan. I loved his books and I was so looking forward to him skewering people when they were dishonest…I guess I’ll have to wait and see like everyone else.
Apparently the recount has been a good time. The link below shows a peek into the crazy of Minnesota. Go ahead click on the link, I promise it doesn’t take you to a picture of Michelle Bachmann.

Franken is narrowing the gap between Republican Freshman Senator Norm Coleman in the bitter cold state of Minnesota. Coleman now leads by a mere 174 votes! Whoo hooo Team Franken!
As a fellow former Minnesotan, Paul Wellstone fan, and Franken lover this is GREAT news. I have good feeling about the recount!
My only question is…will Franken or Jim Martin be number 59 or 60 for the Democrats?

Okay. Just when I thought we were done, I’ve realized we are not! WHOO HOO!!
I earlier called Alaska for convicted felon (isn’t that fun?) Ted Stevens, but Begich is gaining steadily. He is now leading by 2,374 votes. Alaska…I’m getting prouder by the count.

In addition, we have a Senate run off in Georgia. Jim Martin is seeking to upset the Republican Party’s nasty Saxby Chambliss. Yeah, I hate that guy. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but it really doesn’t get old for me. I’ve also mentioned every Democrat possible should get their behinds to Georgia to give Jim Martin a hand…and that includes our President Elect Barack Obama.

And the final race to reach 60 brings me to one of my favorite states, Minnesota. This is Paul Wellstone’s seat. It will always be Senator Wellstone’s seat to me. They are currently getting ready to start the recount between Al Franken (I’ll admit I’m a fan…love that guy’s books) and Norm the suit wearing worm Coleman. Now from what I hear the recount may favor Franken. Apparently the districts with issues are Franken friendly territory, so keep your fingers crossed!

So…we need Alaska, Georgia, and Minnesota to see our dream of 60 come true. Keep your fingers crossed…or better yet, uncross those fingers and make some phone calls!!!

Bummer. Nah, not really. I’m not a Norm Coleman fan at all. Whenever I think of Norm Coleman, I am reminded that he holds what used to be Paul Wellstone’s Senate seat. YUCK.
Coleman is now leading Franken by a mere 239 votes. Lets hope the recount goes smoothly…and Al Franken wins!!

The state of Washington is once again locked in a dead heat in the race for governor. The opponet is once again Dino Rossi. Republican – and friendly to big business. Hasn’t this country had enough of politicians that are uber friendly to big business?
If you’ve got friends in the state of Washington encourage them to vote! Every vote will count. Governor Gregoire won last time after three recounts by 133 votes!
